When I think first, plenty of differences between Parvana and me in life. I have the definite rights to go to school and go outside by myself without a chador, but Parvana doesn’t. Her country has a dictatorship government, but my country has a democratic. She has a very difficult way of living as her father is arrested and her country is in war, therefore she has to works a lot for her family. But when I look at myself, I have everything I need to live: shelter, water, lots of food, and all the extra goods that are actually not even necessary. After looking for the differences, I feel that my life is too easy. My parents work for me, and I have all the in need rights. It makes me think that I should be doing something for her, and the Afghans. It is difficult to find some similarities between Parvana and me, but I just realized that there were some similarities. Both of us like learning history, not only history but Parvana wants to study. Sometimes I don’t like studying, but after all, I think I like studying. Other similarity is that both of us love going outside. Also, we both have one elder sister and one younger sister. How her sisters treat her is very similar to how mine do
I particularly like the thought about the fact that you acknowledge and show gratitude that you have the right to shelter, water, food and so much else. Sometimes we take these things for granted and only when we read stories about other cultures like The Breadwinner, do we realize how difficult it might be to even get the basic necessities.
When I look at Parvana’s story, I see many differences and similarities in Parvana’s and my life but mostly I see many differences. Some of the differences are that I have freedom in my life to go to school, protest on anything or anyone. But in Parvana’s life she doesn’t have freedom in her country, she can’t protest on anything or else the Taliban would punish her critically, girls cannot go to school to study. I also see many similarities that she likes learning and to study more and even I like learning and study more, she helps her mother cleaning the house and even I like helping my mother clean the house or anything she needs help in. Parvana loves going outside and even I do like going outside and not always stay at home. So I think that there are many similarities and differences between mine and Parvana’s life.
Yes, Sharath, I do see that you are much like Parvana in the respect of eagerness and open mindedness to study and know more. Two different children from two totally different cultures and yet you are able to identify similarities. Yes!!!
I think we are the same because: we all want to go outside and play without any law or religion holding us back, we all want our to do what WE want. I think we are diffirent because: I have a different religion and nationality, and we dont have anything holding us back from school or even going outside.
Life under the Taliban is completely different from mine, now that I come to think of it, There are so many rules that people like Parvana have to follow, while I'm allowed to do whatever I please. Parvana doesn't have the right to go outside the house,or the right to education. I have the right to almost all these things. Parvana isn't even aloud to speak her mind or think whatever she wants too. I think that Parvana and my lives are extremely alike as we both just want to have fun and be able to go to school. We both want to be aloud to do anything and achieve our personal best. Parvana and I share different lives, as I have the right for everything and yet we aren't thankful enough. I am really lucky to have the right to education and to leave my house and to have my own beliefs or my own thoughts. Overall life under the Taliban just has different beliefs, its just differently thought about than the rest of the world.
I realized, when I was reading the story of Parvana, that we have very similar but also very different lifes. The life of Parvana has many challenges that she has to face! I might not have as many challenges in my life as Parvana but I do have challenges to overcome in my life like for example; I have to put effort into school work while Parvana has to win money for the survival of her family. She might have tougher challenges than I do but challenges are challenges. Another similarity we share is that we both help our families in our household. I help my family by cleaning up the pig sty I have in my room sometimes or I set the table. Parvana although collect water and helps tidying the house. These are some similarities but there are many differences I found between the ways we live. First of all I live in a democratic country while Parvana lives in a dictatorship. I have the right to go on the street with whatever I choose to wear while in Afghanistan Parvana has to follow dress codes given by the Taliban. What I noticed too was that could not walk on the street without the company of a man. I am free to walk on the street or market anytime I want. To sum it up, we have many differences but we also have many similarities in our life.
Parvana has a very different life than me, but we have some similarities. One thing that’s different is that Parvana lives in a one-bedroom apartment with very few belongings. Meanwhile, I have a 4-bedroom apartment with all of my basics needs fulfilled with even more belonging I don’t really need. Another difference is that I don’t have to worry that some soldier would burst into my house at midnight, and kill my family. When that’s almost what could happen to Parvana any day. We both might be different in many ways but Parvana and I think similarly. This is so because we both believe that everyone should have all human rights that the Taliban has forbidden. We both also believe that everyone especially girls should have the privilege to have an education without stoppage.
Parvana has a incomparable life than me.We have the rights to play around and be educated, but Parvana's life is very restricted, because she is not even allowed to play around the park or the market and be educated like her parents.
