Challenges.....
Parvana in her effort to take on the role of the Breadwinner for her family, boldly disguises herself as a boy. What, in your opinion, are some of the challenges she might encounter, in this courageous step she is about to take?

I think it might get discovered that she is a girl or she might accidently do something for which she geos to jail or she falls in love with a boy but she can't say it becuase it might destroy her disguise.
ReplyDeleteI think Parvana will be facing some problems with money. Reading the letters to the customers might not afford her family much. The family might try to do some more things to gain money, which must be very difficult, because they'll have to disguise someone else into a boy, or they can rob someday. Another problem might be with Parvana wanting to become back to a girl. She can get tired of disguising herself as a boy and always being careful that no one realizes it.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, and I think that Parvana becoming tired of diguising herself as a boy, may be one of the major let downs to this plan. And that this could ruin the whole plan.
DeleteI think that Parvana may be on shortage of money, because her job may not earn her much. Another obstacle she might run into is being discovered. The Taliban may be able to figure out that she is not actually a girl.
ReplyDeletePeople may start suspecting her voice not being like a boys, or that her face is too girlish to be a boys, or something like that.
The main problem that Parvana may not earn enough, as I said before, the money she earns may not be enough to support her family.
I believe that Parvana might be facing challenges like having to act like a boy, which might be very hard for her since she has only a smaller brother and her dad from who she can see how boys act. She might too have to work the whole day to earn money because as much as a small boy can earn is too little to save her family from hunger.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion she’ll have lots of trouble getting used to being without her father. Parvana has never been without supervision outside her house. It makes her afraid of going out and being open to everyone. This will challenge her, making it hard for her to understand her surroundings and she has to do it without her father’s voice speaking for her.
ReplyDeleteAnother challenge for Parvana is that she has to learn how to manage a successful business process. She just cannot keep on selling old belongings because their family will run out of things to sell. Also, reading letters can’t produce enough money for a family of five. So, Parvana is faced with a challenge to find another way to make money for the family.
